The Company applied Green Building guidelines to the design and development of shopping malls by adopting the evaluation criteria of the Thailand Energy Award of the Ministry of Energy and the ASEAN Energy Awards. The criteria comprise perspectives on green building management, such as efficient energy management, greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction, pollution reduction, waste management, green building innovation, the use of non-toxic materials, and the concept of renewability and sustainability.

Target

• Develop green buildings by 20% by 2030.

• The shopping center and office building are being developed as environmental friendly.

Management Approach

  1. Applying Green Building principles, such as international standards like LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), and local standards like TREES (Thai’s Rating of Energy and Environmental Sustainability), ASEAN Energy Awards criteria, Thailand Energy Awards 7 by the Ministry of Energy, and MEA Index (Management of Energy Achievement Index) for measuring energy usage by the Metropolitan Electricity Authority.
  2. Promoting waste reduction in construction by reusing generated waste materials.
  3. Implementing Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV), which integrates solar panels into building materials such as roofs, canopies, windows, and walls to harness solar energy as part of the building's design and functionality.

Green Building Development" and "Environmentally Friendly Practices"

Central Pattana applies the guidelines for developing energy-efficient and environmentally friendly buildings, known as Green Building, to design and develop shopping centers. These guidelines incorporate the criteria from Thailand Energy Award by the Ministry of Energy and ASEAN Energy Award by ASEAN, focusing on environmentally friendly building management practices. This includes efficient energy management, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and environmental pollutants, waste management, environmentally sustainable building innovations, and using non-toxic, recyclable, and sustainable materials.
